Creating a Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) is
becoming an increasingly popular way for Native people across the nation
to build stronger, more self-sufficient communities. Native CDFIs help
to promote local economies by supporting the development of
entrepreneurs and businesses, increasing homeownership, and empowering
community members to reach their financial goals.

First Nations Oweesta Corporation is pleased to offer a Native
Communities Financing Initiative training, Curriculum #1, "Does your
Community Need a CDFI?" to help establish and sustain Native CDFIs in
Native communities.

 

The three-day training will address:

*         key concepts & structures

*         benefits of CDFIs in Native Communities

*         how to be successful in the CDFI industry

 

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to decide if
they can go on to Curriculum #2, "Organizing a CDFI to serve your Native
Community."

This NCFI training will be held on August 18-20, 2009, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
EDT via webinar. Dial-up information will be sent to all registered
