Oweesta would like to announce that the upcoming Native Enterprise &
Entrepreneurship Development Initiative training, previously scheduled
for October 7-9 has been postponed. The training has been rescheduled
for November 11-13, 2009 at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.
The NEED Initiative is based on a new model of community economic
development. Tailored for Native CDFIs and their partners, it provides
comprehensive training and technical assistance designed to assist
Native communities with developing effective enterprise and
entrepreneurship systems in their communities. The training addresses
key areas of economic development specific to Native communities,
including community environment, local entrepreneurship climate and
policy, coaching, access to capital, and entrepreneurship education. In
addition to training, new participants will have access to free
technical assistance from Oweesta to help them develop and implement the
NEED model in their communities.
The three-day training will be held at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel on
November 11-13, 2009 in Prior Lake, MN. Applications for participation
are now available and will be accepted through September 25, 2009. The
cost of the training is $75.00 per person but the follow-up technical
assistance is free of charge. Communities that participate, as well as
past NEED Initiative participants, will be offered the opportunity to
attend three subsequent online training sessions that will focus more
deeply on specific topics of the NEED model. For more information or to
obtain an application please visit www.oweesta.org
<http://www.oweesta.org/> or contact Kaitlin Cramer at
kaitlin at oweesta.org <mailto:kaitlin at oweesta.org> or by calling (605)
342-3770.
Due to limited space and high demand, organizations will not be accepted
into the program and continue to receive ongoing customized technical
assistance unless they are committed to attend the training and progress
through the programmatic milestones as applied to their particular
organization and community.
